Personalised Care, Continuity, Empowered Choices.
Hi I’m Mel… The Southwest Indie Midwife
I’m a skilled and passionate homebirth midwife, with a love for supporting physiology.
I believe in the power of relationship based care to provide you with safe, nurturing care that puts you firmly in the centre. Continuity of Care is such a powerful model of care, that it provides huge benefits to both you and your baby.
I am a skilled and experienced homebirth midwife, having provided homebrith care for many years in the NHS. I have decided to step outside of the NHS to be able to provide high quality person centred care that is informed by research, evidence and what you want.
Care with me is provided on a schedule that is enhanced compared to NHS models of care. Appointments last as long as you need them to generally around the 2 hour mark. This means you have the opportunity to explore all of your needs and answer all of the questions you may have.
As well as homebirth I am able to provide you with enahnced antenatal & postnatal care as well as birth care alongside the NHS if you wish to birth in a birth centre, hospital or have a planned caesarean birth.
I am skilled in caring for women who’s choices might not align with national guidance and advocating for your choices. I want you to have an empowering, safe birth where you feel in control of your choices. I believe that continuity of carer builds trusting bonds to allow this to happen and am experienced in navigating outside of guidance choices such as homebirth after caesarean.
I am passionate about relational care and I am a trauma informed practitioner. I will support you to tune in to your body and your baby to make the choices that are right and safe for you.
I am trained in hypnobirthing, biomechanics and aromatherapy so can care for your mind, body and soul throughout your journey in to parenthood
If you live within around 90 mins of Plymouth please get in contact to see how I can support you.
